Huntingdon is a bustling market town situated in the west of the Cambridgeshire county and is steeped in history. There is evidence of a Roman villa having existed in Huntingdon as well as a Saxon town as early as 650 AD. Huntingdon is also well known as the birthplace of Oliver Cromwell, and his life can be learned more about in the various local museums and even his preserved family home in Ely.
The town is situated along the banks of the Great River Ouse and is surrounded by countryside and parkland. Huntingdon has plenty to offer its visitors and residents including a wide variety of dining options, chain and local shops, riverside and sport activities as well as seasonal events and entertainment.
Godmanchester is a picturesque town situated on the south bank of the River Great Ouse, opposite the larger town of Huntingdon, and has historic roots in the Roman period.
This beautiful town is the perfect place to wander through and take in the local culture and countryside. It features an impressive number of listed buildings designated as being of outstanding heritage interest by English Heritage.
Godmanchester is embraced by beautiful meadows that act as an important wildlife habitat. In addition to its various nature reserves, the town also offers visitors a variety of local pubs and restaurants, independent shops and sweet cafes.
