There are a variety of ways you can make the most out of your relaxing break with us here at Boutique Rooms. Taking some much-needed time out away from the busy stresses of life can help you to recharge, refresh and be a little selfish with your wellbeing. We all need to be selfish with our happiness sometimes!
At Boutique Luxe, our guests have exclusive access to their own private sauna and Jacuzzi at our gorgeous rustic property to help promote rest and relaxation, however, there are also many other ways you can take a step back from our hectic lives and remember how to actually live.
It’s not exactly surprising, but a holiday shouldn’t be stressful! It should be a mental break from the worries and strain of day-to-day life. Before heading off on a break, make a mental note of any fears, phobias or the activities that could make you more stressed, and then avoid them.
This is your time. You don’t need to take part in things that you don’t want to do. You don’t have to go abseiling or rock climbing or even swimming if you have a phobia of water. It isn’t a test of endurance or a friendship challenge of “who has more guts”.
You have every right to choose to do what you want with your holiday. Whatever sounds most necessary for you and your health – that is what you should do.
Take in as much nature as you can during your relaxing break away from home. Being in the surroundings of trees, lush green fields, fresh air, and forest animals is a great way to ground yourself and focus on where you are at that moment.
Grounding is a technique used to help people with severe stress and anxiety where you centre yourself and think of five things you can see, hear, touch and smell. One of the best ways to do this is to go into nature and focus on the beautiful natural world around you.
Other ways to make the most of nature include going for walks or hikes, cycling or taking a delicious picnic and sitting in the middle of an empty field. Here at Boutique Luxe we are so incredibly lucky that our beautiful accommodations are immersed in all the beauty nature has to offer.
Another way to get out in nature is to get exercising!
Just because you’re on holiday, doesn’t mean that you have to take a break from your exercise routine if it is what makes you happy! Taking a run or jog through a forest, getting on a bike or going swimming are all fantastic ways to stay fit and healthy!
Alternatively, if you are looking for some more structured exercise, perhaps look for some fitness classes nearby where you can also add a social element to your exercises!
When you stay with us at Boutique Luxe, get in touch and we will happily recommend local fitness classes or walking routes to help you feel your best!
Is there a better time to try a new experience than whilst being away from the daily grind?
Holidays are a fantastic way to embrace new experiences and to try something you have wanted to do but never had the opportunity to do before. Maybe get some friends or family members and try out something new together?
There are so many unique things to do in Cambridgeshire, why not take a look at our blog posts or get in touch for some recommendations?
Remember, this is YOUR relaxing break. Be sure to carve out some wellbeing space and time for yourself to help you make the most out of your holiday.
This could involve so many things, from reading to yoga, from meditation to cooking your favourite meal. Whatever you do to relax, take time and appreciate your own company.
Using essential oils when anxious or stressed can have a fantastic calming effect on the body.
Oils with scents such as lavender and citrus are the most popular and can be used to calm and destress in various situations. Lavender oils can promote relaxation and sleep whilst easing anxiety and depression, and citrus oils can boost norepinephrine levels, the hormone that balances mood to ease stress and worry.
You can find oil roller balls online and in various shops, but you can also purchase bottled oils and use little drops on a tissue or handkerchief and always keep the little gift of de-stress nearby!
Yoga and meditation is no longer considered solely eastern practices. The west is now fully embracing the benefits of these two fantastic stress-relievers!
Meditation is a simple method to reduce-stress and re-centre the mind. Meditation can be squeezed in at any time any place and for only 10 minutes daily, you can control anxiety, improve cardiovascular health and reduce stress.
Yoga combines the mind and body to promote relaxation through physical poses and controlled breathing. When done effectively, yoga can aid in reducing stress in addition to lowering your heart rate and blood pressure.
There is a fantastic yoga centre called Wilderness Yoga by the Lakes in the village near to our accommodation The Retreat. The centre is set in the beautiful surrounds of nature and the Cambridgeshire countryside, providing visitors with a deeper mental and physical connection to nature.
There is no doubt about it: phones and social media pressures can be mentally destroying if we become too immersed.
It’s not other peoples’ business to know about your holiday every minute of every day. Enjoy your holiday for YOU – not the likes, comments, and validation from everyone else. Being too involved in the virtual world can have negative effects on the relationships you have with the important people in your life.
Therefore, it is important to limit phone time as much as you can whilst on your relaxing break. Ignore those work emails, disable intrusive apps and perhaps limit photo sharing with others to once daily. You’re on holiday!
Life is difficult and has so many ups and downs, sometimes it can be difficult to avoid taking things too seriously. But maybe a holiday break can be the perfect opportunity to put “don’t sweat the small things” into practise?
Sometimes things won’t go the way you expect – you may miss dinner reservations, the weather could become your nemesis, and you might ruin those nice jeans when you fall on a muddy walk through nature.
You could get angry, upset and be self-pitying, but in turn, could make your holiday as unsalvageable as those jeans. Or you could laugh at the unpredictability of life and just appreciate the time you are actually spending with loved ones – no matter what the circumstance!
The only time you should meticulously over-plan should be on your wedding day!
Holidays are reserved for resting and destressing and for taking a relaxing break from the planned overwhelming conveyer-belt that is day-to-day life.
Make a promise to yourself to take things as they come. It is not always important to have every little detail planned perfectly for each moment of the day. After all, sometimes the best things in life come when you least expect them!
We hope this list has been informative and has provided you with the knowledge you were looking for to make the most out of your relaxing break away from home!
